In Aug 2019, Vardhman Special Steels Ltd. entered in a partnership with Aichi Steel Corp Japan, an affiliate of Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation. Aichi Steel Corp owns 11.4 percent stake in VSSL and provides technical assistance aimed at establishing a world-class, socially, and environmentally responsible special steel manufacturing company in India.
One of the key objectives of this partnership is to develop special steel grades for automotive companies in India to provide substitutes of steels currently being imported. It is planned to export these special grades to South Asia and Europe later.
